It seems I’ve fallen off the blogging wagon. I apologize if you check this looking for new posts, it’s been a busy week.

Actually, I’m not sure what kind of week it’s been! It’s just slipped away from me and I can’t believe it’s Saturday again. I’m sort of in this studious groove and I read a LOT this week. I still have a lot to do, but I’m hoping that after another week of intense reading I’ll be caught up, and can just try to be a good student until the end but still actually have a social life.

Last night a bunch of us from the semester program went to Jobs, a sort of American bar with pool tables (very close to me, actually), with the new summer kids– the program is only ten and I think just 8 were there. They seem nice, all girls and it’s a program where they’re studying public health. For the most part it was just an excuse to have beer and pizza on the FLACSO tab. Always a good thing.

Afterwards we went (Amy, Laura, Kathleen, Sarah, Randall, and eventually Roche and some of his friends) to another English speaking bar named Sugar– it’s owned by an Englishman and it was a lot of fun. The bartender is a girl from Florida who is down here teaching and is bar tending on the weekends for a bit of extra cash. Evidently she was a regular there and knows the owner and there you go! Anyway, it was fun, but in Argentine style of going out, I got to bed at 6am, which means today is shot. After a lot of hard contemplation when I got up at 1pm I opted for sweatpants and slippers– it’s totally grey outside and I don’t really have anywhere I need to go. I’d imagine it’s pretty cool out since Marisa was dressed pretty warmly.

She looks great today! She got her hair straightened at a peliqueria (hair salon), which is evidently pretty common here and it looks really nice. A family friend is getting married this evening, so she’s heading that way– looks like a quiet night at home for me, which means lots of history reading, dinner whenever I want it, and probably an early bedtime.

Don’t take this to mean anything about what I’m up to in Buenos Aires, but for me everything (save for coffee) is better in moderation. This includes going out. One night a weekend sounds good– and since tomorrow is the Argentine independence day I’ll probably head to the fería or something– hopefully it’ll be a nicer day out.

In the meantime I’m being more of a student than someone studying abroad. I’m still waiting on my package from the states that has my debit card and a camera in it– it’s in customs now, so hopefully I’ll get it this week. It’ll be really nice to have a camera again. Until then, I don’t have any pictures to share :( .

That’s all I have today, though. If you’re in a music mood hit up youtube.com (not a site I frequent) and type in Eric Hutchinson Freak Control. Eric Hutchinson is one of my favorites and I’m loving this new song– which is only in the “testing” stage at live performances.

Chau.
