slacker

This week has been pretty full, sorry about not posting the rest of the Uruguay pictures, but I’ll get around to it.
It was a rough week– classes started, which is good, but then on Wednesday night (am on Thursday) I found myself quite sick and by the afternoon, in the Hospital Aleman (the German Hospital) close by here. I had a cyst burst and had some internal abdominal bleeding. I spent the night there and am now fine, pending some blood work on Tuesday.
I fainted on the way to the hospital on Thursday and wound up with a black eye– hopefully it’ll clear up and I’ll be back to 100% by Wednesday night, when Susan, Sarah, and I are taking a bus to Bariloche for Semana Santa.

Today was pretty pleasant though– Marisa got these really good croissants with dulce de leche in them– now usually dulce de leche is a bit sweet for me, but I’m coming around to it! We had slices of banana with it the other day and now these yummy breakfast pastries…. I still don’t need lots of little “postres” after dinner every night of the week, but if you ever have a banana and dulce de leche at the same time, give it a try!
I met up with Susan and Sarah at Aroma, a coffee shop near the FLACSO building to talk about our trip earlier today. I’ve fallen for cafe con crema, a simple little shot of espresso with a dollop of whipped cream on top. It’s not quite my 16oz cup of Uncommon Grounds coffee, but it does the trick and you can find it just about everywhere here.
Since there’s no student center here I’m running around to little cafes trying to find one that feels like home. I have lots of weird down time during the day between classes when I can’t go home, so I’m finding coffee all over the city!
The evening has been pretty slow– I have some homework for tomorrow and I’m still a little sore from the whole hospital drama, so this weekend has sort of been about taking it easy. Hopefully I’ll pop up nice and early tomorrow and enjoy some coffee and reading tomorrow before my econ class.
My FLACSO Economic Development class has a lot of reading, so the rest of my night is going to be pretty exciting. :-)
Mmk that’s it for now– I’m looking forward into falling into a better routine now that class has started. I’ll be shopping for classes at UBA this week and starting my language lab course (which only meets once a week on Wednesday)… this two class thing was too good to last!
Time to stop talking about reading and start doing some reading! Ciao!
